Patrick’s Free Art Course – Lesson 02 Perspective – Introduction

Posted on

For lesson we will tackle perspective.   Now perspective is a complicated subject if you want to understand it correctly. And there is no way to cover it in a few short online lessons.  So now its home work time.  What you didn’t think you would get by without any reading home work did you? 🙂

OK for what you will have to do next is read books on perspective and practice all the ideas they give you. But keeping with the theme of this course as being free I will offer you a some free books.

Applied perspective, for architects and painters (1901)

The essentials of perspective, with illustrations drawn by the author; (1887)

Complete Perspective Course

If you can buy one book I suggest Perspective for Artists, by Rex Vicat Cole.  It is less than $3 on Amazon. You can preview it at Google Books.

You can also of course also go to your local library and check out books on perspective. Or you can buy them on Amazon.com for a good price. I would also check out used book stores in your area. It will not hurt to have a collection of books on the subject. I find I always learn a little from each one. As they tend to explain things in different ways.

So now go over one or two books to start with slowly making sure you grasp the ideas. When you think you have it down come back and start on exercise B.

PS. I will add more free books and resources as I find them.
