Patrick’s Free Art Course – Lesson 01 Drawing Part Exercise H

Posted on

For exercise H we will be doing circles.  Setup your easel at a comfortable angle as before.  Then setup your sketch book or single sheet of paper on it.  Now we want to make a perfect circles about 3 or 4 inches in diameter. You can do this by tracing around the lid of a jar or using a compass.  Put this circle in the top left corner of your paper.  Now using your entire arms draw circles of the same size trying to make them perfect. After you have filled the page get out your tracing paper.  Trace the first perfect circle you did using the lid or compass.  Now compare it to the circles you drew freehand. Try and take note of how you are distorting them. Then repeat this exercise with a new sheet of paper until you can free hand the circle accurately. This is another exercise that seems much easierthan it really is:)
