Artemisia Gentileschi is a very interesting woman artist. She live (July 8 1593 – 1652/1653) at a time at a time when it was not really accepted that women could be painters much less great painters. She endured a lot including a rape. But she was the the first woman accepted into the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno” Accademia delle Arti del Disegno (Academy of the Arts of Drawing).
